A Report from Temple Cummins

On Saturday the 16th Dana and Dudley Doss met up to partake in the coastal cleanup. Our beach had metal pieces and buoys that we removed with the help of the Dungeness refuge Ranger Gary and his buggy and trailer. It was very foggy that morning, entering the creek we smelled smoke but knowing that the fires in the Olympics had expanded the day before we thought it had settled in the creek.

I put the canoe in the water to pick up debris along the shoreline inside the lagoon. From that vantage I saw smoke on the east side of the creek close to the old trail that headed east.

We grabbed some buckets and Dana called the fire department. They arrived full force and took it down within one hour. Many thanks to them and all the neighbors that came down to help.
